Try putting the words “sexy” and “frugal” together in the same search bar and see what you get.  Not much. It seems that the image that most people have of frugality is very unflattering. Old, smelly thrift store clothes. Beans and rice every night for dinner. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in a brown paper bag for lunch. Driving around in an old, beat up jalopy.

So, why is it what everyone is being so frugal right now? Because they have to be, not because they want to. Trust me, when things start to pick up and everyone starts making money again, all this “Save as much money as you can” stuff will go out the window. There won’t be any more budgeting, clipping coupons or saving for an emergency fund. None of that seems sexy.

I’ve never understood why most people think that saving money is not stylish. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, you can still look drop dead gorgeous, still have a social life and keep your fabulous digs and still keep your money in your pocket.

Furthermore, managing your money is taking control of your life. Taking control of your life gives you power. Powerful people are leaders. Leaders makes my temperature rise, my pulse quicken and make skin tingle. Because they are sexy!

I’m glad you said it! I’ve never understood why people seem embarrassed to save money. It’s not cheap, it just makes it easier to spend on other great things. And given this economy-I’ll take any savings I can get 🙂
    Love the site!

Welcome to the site, D! Hopefully others are starting to see that spending money on what’s important is how you really live!

  2. […] I’m wondering: How did a fellow expat Sydneysider from England not being exposed as a child to coupons end up being addicted to “Extreme Couponing” overnight? I did some research (ok, one google search) as I wanted to be a part of couponing fever — until I read this: “One thing I won’t be doing is spending 70 hours a week clipping coupons or dumping plans just to go shopping!” crazysexyfrugal […]

I loved the videos you posted about glass cutting. I’ve been wanting to make a christmas-light lantern from some wine bottles for years now and couldn’t figure out how to drill the hole without breaking the glass!

My wife has some YouTube videos about making your own lip balm and I have some about making your own cheese and making cheap worm composting bins. You’re welcome to post them if you like: http://www.youtube.com/simplelivingskills

Also thanks for sharing the links in your sidebar. I found a few new frugal sites I hadn’t heard of yet. You should check out Coupon Sherpa some time. They have video savings tips, Iphone / Android apps, and a lot of other stuff you won’t find on the average coupon website.
