Ever heard of cull lumber?

It’s basically the scrap wood bin at the hardware store. This is where you can get some good wood for really cheap! I got four really big pieces of wood, (big enough to make my own large wall hanging) for only $2! They will even cut it for you! Of course I’ll be going back regularly to check out what’s there! It’s almost like treasure hunting! So fun!

When life gives you a broken shelf…..

…you put it back to work!

My shelf broke on me! I bought it from Target on sale some time ago. It originally looked like this:

Well! It snapped in half! Luckily, the top half of the shelf was still workable, so I removed that part and  put some things back on it.

The bottom half didn’t look so hot. I was going to toss that part, but I wanted to save all the screws. While I was taking the shelf section apart, it occured to me that there was nothing wrong with the pieces of wood themselves. So, I bought some shelf brackets and put them back up on the studs:

I like it better! I can space the shelves anyway and anywhere I want, and I can use the top and botton of the shelf for greater storage.

This project is part of my re-organization of my studio. Lots my re-furb, re-fab and re-use ideas ahead.
